"Hi no Tori, the Phoenix: Dōgo Onsen Chapter" Episode 2 "Shiki and Sōseki"

Following "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix: Dōgo Onsen Chapter" Prologue - Episode 1 that was released on May 24, 2019, a new "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix" story set in Dōgo Onsen has been born. The prologue, "Ōkuninushi and Sukunahikona," featured the mythical age guardian gods of Dōgo Onsen, Ōkuninushi and Sukunahikona's "Legend of the Tamanoishi." Episode 1, "Prince Shōtoku's Visit," took place in the Asuka period and featured the legend of Prince Shōtoku going to Dōgo Onsen. Now, Episode 2 crosses time and takes place in the Meiji period.

Loved by many for its tasteful appearance, the Dōgo Onsen Honkan was renovated in year 27 of the Meiji period by the first mayor of Dōgo Yunomachi, Yukiya Isaniwa. This story begins with the appearance of Ōkuninushi and Sukunahikona in Yukiya Isaniwa's dreams and the bright light of the Phoenix. As if driven by his repeated dreams, Mayor Isaniwa decides to summon Matahachirō Sakamoto, whose family were castle carpenters on Matsuyama Castle, and have him rebuild Dōgo Onsen.

In year 28 of the Meiji period, the year after reconstruction of the Dōgo Onsen Honkan is complete, the poet, Shiki Masaoka of Matsuyama and his good friend Sōseki Natsume appear at Dōgo Onsen. Shiki was diagnosed with tuberculosis, a disease believed to be incurable at the time, and Sōseki was worried about him. One can imagine them walking along in a heated debate on the future of Japanese literature. Suddenly, the Phoenix, which was said to appear at historical turning points to lead humanity, appeared before Shiki. Bathed in bright light, what message does the Phoenix leave for these two men desperately trying to survive in this tumultuous age?

This is a new "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix" story that spans the ages. Wouldn't you like to enjoy this anime and learn its history, then visit Dōgo Onsen and enjoy the baths while you relax and sooth your body and soul?
