The Dōgo Reborn Project
On January 15th, 2019, repair work of the 125-year-old Dōgo Onsen Honkan began to preserve the building for future generations to enjoy.
This is the first time in Japan in which a public bathhouse that has been designated as an Important National Cultural Asset has been kept open while repairs are being done to preserve the building.
The Phoenix, a symbol of eternal life that gives guidance to people across time and space and which Osamu Tezuka considered his life's work, watches over the revitalization of Dōgo Onsen, a place that has healed people for generations.
There will be more events and features such as lighting-ups and the original animation.
Please enjoy experiencing the Dōgo Onsen Honkan in a way that you can only do so during this time!
The Dōgo Onsen Honkan is currently under repairs to preserve the building. While repairs are being done, it's still open and you can enjoy 100 % natural hot water of Dōgo Onsen
Dōgo Onsen, the famous hot spring with 3,000 years of history
The stone bathing rooms adorned with Tobe porcelain panel paintings and the baths with their large column-shaped water spouts called yugama are representative of the Dōgo Onsen Honkan's unique appeal.
